Assuming you haven’t been living under a rock for the last 18 months, you’ve probably heard quite a bit about Twitter. Maybe you even have your own account which you tweet your random drivel to. I like to use mine to drop the thoughts that are too fleeting to develop in to anything significant for this blog.
Whatever the case, whether you like Twitter or not, there’s money to be made in marketing by following the masses and monetizing the suckers. And a trend doesn’t get anymore slap ya in the face obvious than Twitter right about now. So how can we cash in as affiliates? The chances are, if you’re reading this blog, you’re a money hunting bitch who only invests in software if it’s gonna line your pocket. That’s cool because I am too. If you’re willing to invest a little time in to your Twitter marketing efforts, it’s easy to see how a feature like the current trending topics can be turned in to a pot of gold. I remember when Michael Jackson died, I set Tweet Adder to re-post my Wacko Jacko email submits day and night while he was still occupying the entire trending chart. This resulted in some insane traffic. Truth be told, I got scrubbed to shit at the advertiser’s end. The best way to make money with Tweet Adder is to have a number of accounts setup that grow slowly over time. Slow growth mirrors realistic use. No matter how stupid you consider the Twitter masses to be, most people can still read the difference between a human speaking and a robot spitting programmed drivel. Your ability to nurture accounts and slowly establish authenticity is the vital ingredient to cashing in.
Not only will you fail miserably if you neglect the chore of planning ahead, but you’ll also risk getting all of your Twitter accounts banned. If you’re working in the Internet marketing space, it can be pretty embarrassing to have your business account suspended for Twitter misuse. Think before you try to exploit.
You need to be particularly careful about mass unfollowing users. It’s important to keep your ratios in check, but deciding one day to castrate half of your network is not going to do you any favours.
It’s also necessary to muster a bunch of genuine looking tweets to feed in to your accounts. There are databases of 140 character tweets that are widely available on the net. I would personally recommend link dropping in no more than 15% of your tweets. Keep the rest squeaky clean to establish some credibility.

I started with a license for 5 profiles when I was looking to scout out the software. I can’t think of any reason why, as a marketer, I would want to buy a license for just one profile. The best way to make money with an app like Tweet Adder is to cast the net far and wide. The more active profiles you have, the more niches you can branch in to, and the more money you can ultimately make.
If you want to see if the software is as capable as it claims to be, by all means go for the 1 profile package. Once you’ve seen what it can do, you’re probably going to want to upgrade. Scaling means having lots of profiles and lots of mini-networks.
Overall Thoughts
Until the day Twitter rolls out a self-serve advertising platform, software like Tweet Adder is always going to be the best way of reaching a large crowd on the site. That’s unless sitting at your desk and manually tweeting all day sounds like an option. I haven’t gone all out with my Twitter marketing efforts, but I’ve still been able to accumulate some nice almost-passive income.
The software itself is great. Pretty much everything I need for automating the marketing process is here when I boot it up. You receive automatic upgrades and if you’ve ever used automation software before, you’ll know that upgrades are a fucking necessity. Anybody else remember the days of MySpace bots being rendered useless as soon as the MySpace platform changed a line of code? Yeah, I do. Nobody can deny that Twitter is growing fast. It’s slowly becoming more central to our day-to-day lives. The rate at which it’s multiplying its userbase is truly shit boggling in itself. Many marketers will continue to sit on the fence and let their Facebook PPC campaigns make healthy bank. But if you’re planning ahead, as you should be, Twitter is a very sure bet for expanding your business beyond one marketing platform. For a one time investment, you’re looking at 100% profit on every conversion you make.
